In the spring of 2019, I studied abroad in Australia at Bond University. My school was located in Gold Coast, Queensland but I spent several weekends exploring this beautiful country. My first trip was to Sydney and of course, I visited all of the major landmarks: the Opera House, the Harbor Bridge, Luna Park, the Sydney Tower Eye, and Bondi Beach. What I loved most about my time in Sydney was that I made the choice to go alone; my experience would have been completely different had I gone with friends. The photos in this album were taken on my final day when I took a walk through Bondi Beach and the surrounding areas. As I walked wherever the wind took me, I encountered several interesting people and who were kind enough to let a stranger (aka me) ask them way too many questions and take photos of them.

This young man was walking through this park while I sat on a bench people-watching as I usually do. He had his headphones in and danced down the sidewalk by himself like no one was watching.

This man sat on the bench across from mine and kept locking eyes with me. I told him I was taking photos of people and asked if he’d like to participate. He nodded and gave a coy smile that made me want to smile back… and I still do when I look at this photo now.

This photograph was taken outside of a home in the CBD of Sydney. The dog sat quietly watching the street until I approached his territory too close for comfort.

One among many surfers at Bondi Beach on this day. The temperature was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit and nearly the entire surface area of the beach was littered with people.

This little boy watched intently as his dad and older brother skated at a skate park overlooking Bondi Beach. He held his own penny board but never got up the courage to ride it.
